Nike Air Max 90 Coming with Black Waffle Mesh

Nike Air Max 90 with Black Waffle Mesh

Well into its 31st year, the Air Max 90 has seen very clean colorways throughout its existence. And this seems to be a trend that will extend for the foreseeable future. It appears to be that Nike is still a strong believer in the 90 as a new black waffle mesh colorway is expected to drop before 2021 closes.

The Air Max 90, as the name suggests, was first released in 1990 and quickly became Nike’s second flagship sneaker. It was the brainchild of architect, Tinker Hatfield, whose initial concept evolved into the original “Infrared” colorway, which is widely regarded as the most famous and iconic. This color blocking was subsequently used as a template for subsequent releases, each of which has its own devoted fan base. Throughout the years since its release, the Air Max 90 has also come in a variety of unusual and limited versions including FlyEase upgrades and ACG palettes.

Essentially, this pair is monochromatic, you would only find very little color variances between the waffle mesh upper, suede overlays, and tumbled leather mudguards. Minor details such as the eye stay, branding are covered in a shade of smoke grey that is complemented by a white Swoosh found on the midfoot area. Sole units bring the shoe back to black, but teal-blue supports — a hue that’s mirrored on the upper’s logo pops — add a splash of color.
