The Nike Air Max 90 Latino Historical Month (LHM), also known as “Familia”, honours the strength of family & community via heritage silhouettes. Emphasising the value of family within the Latino culture. This release marks Nike’s continued effort in true cultural representation, which began with the “Lucha Libre” collection and the Air Max 97 “Puerto Rico” earlier this year.
As stated above, this pair celebrates the power of “family and community”. Surely, there is no better way to unite Latin Americans than the power of football. Football (or soccer, depending on where you live), serves as a uniting, inclusive game in an area with diverse cultures, languages, and people. The Nike Air Max 90 “Familia” honours Latin America’s variety and enthusiasm via the imaginary team of Club Atletico Familia.
The patterned upper of this Air Max 90 is inspired by colourful ’90s goalkeeper jerseys and is composed of randomly die-cut panels from a 100 per cent recycled polyester fabric, making each pair unique and different. The tongue, which is shaped like those on football boots, a logo for the fictitious team Club Atletico Familia emerges. The word “Familia” is written over the lateral side of the shoe and across the sock liner. Lastly, the shoe has a speckled outsole that looks to be constructed of recycled Nike Grind rubber.
The “Familia” Nike Air Max 90 will be available on SNKRS and at selected Nike retailers soon with a retail price of £130 Get your hands on the where to buy section.
